1. Algebra I
2. English I
3. Biology
3. English II
4. US History
- If you are currently working on an IGC plan to meet your testing goal, you will continue that plan in Edgenuity.
- In order to get credit for passing your state EOC, you have to finish the IGC plan and you have to have a passing grade in the class for that area. For example, if you failed the English I EOC you have to have a passing grade from when you took English I and finish your IGC plan.
- If you have questions, you need to reach out to your counselor through email.
- If you are in a class for the first time that has an end of course test, you are required to pass the class to get credit for the test. For example, if you are a three year graduate taking US History you must pass the class and get credit and this will count as passing the test.
- Campuses will be following up with all students in the IGC process.
Attendance
- You are not being marked absent while you are working from home.
- If you already owed hours for attendance recovery from Jan. 7, 2020-March 6, 2020. You will make up hours by completing TSI work in Edgenuity unless you were given different directions by your counselor.
Grades
Teachers will continue to assign grades as per our policy for the last six weeks.
GPA and Rank
GPA and class rank were finalized at the end of the semester on Dec. 19, 2019 so these are final for seniors.
Will there be a summer school for credit recovery for seniors?
Yes. Each high school is working on a program for credit recovery this summer. Students should contact their counselor for more information.
How will I know that I am college-ready by the end of the year?
All high schools are continuing to ensure structures are in place for students to be on track for college readiness no later than the fall semester of their senior year.
If I have questions about whether I have completed all I need to for graduation, who should I call?
If you have questions about graduation, contact your high school counselor who can help you.
Since the District will remain closed for the remainder of the year, will credits be awarded for graduation?
Yes. Credit for courses for high school graduation will be awarded based on a student's demonstrated proficiency in the essential knowledge and skills for the course based, in part, on work completed in online courses.
What if I do not currently have enough credits to graduate?
Students must complete credit requirements to graduate. Students who successfully complete the 4th 9 weeks and have a passing semester average will receive credit for the semester. Students who are short credits to graduate may continue to accumulate credits in their credit recovery courses.
What if I failed an EOC required for graduation?
Seniors in the 2019– 2020 school year who have not yet met assessment requirements for graduation may be eligible to graduate as a result of an individual graduation committee (IGC) review. The school counselor will contact your parents if this is the case.
What is the Individual Graduation Committee (IGC) process?
A student who has failed the EOC assessment graduation requirements for no more than two courses may receive a Texas high school diploma if the student has qualified to graduate by means of a special process of obtaining an individual graduation committee (IGC) determination.
According to the requirements, as part of the IGC, each student will:
- Participate in the IGC process to ensure that alternate graduation requirements and expectations are clearly understood
- Attend additional hours of remediation as outlined by the IGC
- Complete an approved project or portfolio per EOC that exhibits proficiency in the EOC area(s)
Are all students eligible to receive an IGC review?
Seniors who were enrolled in the district during the 2019–2020 school year may graduate via an IGC determination, regardless of the number of EOC exams they still need to pass. In accordance with TEC, §28.0258, students must successfully complete the curriculum requirements for high school graduation as identified in Title 19 Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Chapter 74, Subchapter B. Districts and charter schools must determine if a student has met all other graduation requirements under TEC, §28.025(c), including successful completion of all curriculum requirements or an individualized education program.
A student who is on schedule to complete graduation requirements in Spring 2020 but does not have the opportunity to retake a STAAR EOC assessment prior to graduation is not required to pass that specific test to fulfill graduation requirements but will need to successfully complete the IGC process to be eligible to graduate.
A student who is on schedule to complete graduation requirements in Spring 2020 and was scheduled to take a required EOC for the first time in Spring 2020 is not required to pass that specific test to fulfill graduation requirements. An IGC is not needed in such circumstances.
What is the timeline for the IGC?
The IGC process has begun at all high school campuses. Counselors will be contacting families. Administrative rules specify that a school district may not establish an initial IGC for eligible students after June 10.
In accordance with 19 TAC §74.1025(d), an IGC must make a decision to award a diploma no later than August 31 of each school year in order for the student to be included as a graduate in the district or charter school's graduation data in the school year in which the student meets the requirements. Please note that a decision to award a diploma via an IGC determination can be made after this date. In such cases, a student would be reported in the subsequent year's graduation data.
If I receive special education services, will requirements be waived so that I am able to graduate?
If you receive special education services, your IGC will be included as part of an ARD meeting and will not be held separately. The ARD committee, of which you are a part, will determine what you need to do to complete your graduation requirements. Unless otherwise indicated in your Individualized Education Program (IEP), you must meet all graduation requirements. If you have any questions, please connect with your monitoring teacher or with the special education department on your campus. You can also contact the central office special education department at (210)444-8103.
What should I do if I still need to take one or more parts of the TSI test?
Check with your college or university to see if they are still requiring results from this test. Many colleges are looking at “multiple measures” for registration and placement including grades in your English and math courses, and/or your scores on your EOC exams.
EISD is currently working on a plan for students who urgently need to take this assessment to do so remotely. Contact your high school counselor for information about who should apply to take this test. Be sure that you have successfully completed any tutoring or preparation for retaking this test before you try to register for your virtual assessment.
If you are currently enrolled in the College Prep Math or College Prep English class, and you plan to go to one of the Alamo Colleges or UTSA, work to pass your class with a 75 or higher. This grade will function as an equivalent to the TSI and will allow you to register for credit-bearing first-year math and English courses.
Will I be able to complete my Industry-Based Certification?
EISD will continue to support all students that have started the certification process even if this requires support into the summer and the fall. EISD will continue to support seniors after graduation to finish out certification requirements. Certifications that require skills attainment (hours or testing) will be set up when students are allowed to return to campuses. Students are requested to communicate with their teacher via TEAMS for updates related to the process. Please feel free to email Rhea Rogers at rhea.rogers@eisd.net if you have questions or concerns about your certification program.
I am a high school student. Can I still take college readiness tests like the TSI, SAT, or ACT?
For SAT, if it is safe from a public health standpoint, there will be weekend SAT administrations every month, beginning in August and continuing through the end of the calendar year.
Many universities also are becoming test-optional and waiving the SAT or ACT from their admission requirements for the next few graduation classes, especially since 11th graders will have fewer opportunities to test these next few months.
I’m enlisting in the military and am required to show proof of completing graduation before I leave for my first assignment at the end of June. Will I be able to do this on time?
Yes, for seniors who have completed all requirements for graduation, transcripts will be updated to reflect a completed graduation status.
