EISD PD thanksgiving food drive

The Edgewood ISD Police Department provided a Thanksgiving feast for hundreds of families in the Edgewood community, thanks to several generous community partners. Each year, Edgewood ISD Police work with district counselors and campus social workers to ensure families have a Thanksgiving meal.

“In Edgewood, we know the need for help is high, and we want every family to have a holiday meal,” said EISD Police Communications Supervisor Ashley Muñoz. “This year, we were able to provide meals for 280 families.”

These meals were made possible by donations from community groups and businesses in the Edgewood area, including the Cesar Chavez Legacy & Education Foundation, St. Paul’s Baptist Church, H-E-B Corporation, Rick Galvan, South Texas Gladiator Jeep Club, Klassisch Vdubs Car Club, and MKV. Several partners also helped EISD distribute the meals.

For EISD Police Chief Jesse Quiroga, this annual tradition is about more than putting food on the table. For him, it’s a personal mission.

“It’s very personal. I grew up very poor here in Edgewood,” said Chief Quiroga. “EISD is not only my employer; it is my home. I feel privileged that I can give back to the community that made me.”

With another successful Thanksgiving behind them, Edgewood ISD Police are now preparing to make Christmas merry for many families as well. If you would like to donate or host a food drive to benefit EISD Police, please contact Ashley Muñoz at (210) 898-2025.
